SSL Certificates

What Are SSL Certificates?

SSL is short for “Secure Sockets Layer,” and SSL certificates are used to secure communications between a website, host, or server and the end users that are connecting to it. An SSL certificate confirms the identity of the domain name (for example, Domains.coop) that is operating the web site, and enables encryption of all information between the server and the visitor to ensure the integrity of all the transmitted information.

We offer SSL Certificates in two options: Single Domain Validation Certificate and Wildcard Domain Validation Certificate.

Please note: You will need to contact and coordinate with your website hosting company in order to setup your SSL certificate.

Single Domain Validation TLS/SSL Certificate

The Domain Validation (DV) certificate offers a low level of encryption shown as a green padlock next to the URL in the address bar. This is the quickest validation you can receive, and you’ll only need a few company documents to apply. This certificate applies to one domain name only.

Wildcard Domain Validation TLS/SSL Certificate

A Wildcard Domain Validation (DV) SSL certificate serves a primary domain name and an unlimited number of its subdomains. For example, if you bought a Wildcard SSL for example.com, it can also be applied to its subdomains such as mail.example.com and blog.example.com.
